Introducing JaneWallStreet: The Business Looks Different from This Seat

Journalists can occasionally inform sports and media executives by breaking news to them. They can never make senior operators smarter, because they’re outsiders conveying information to insiders second hand.
The only way for those at the top to continue learning and evolving is to gain insights from peers who are navigating similar challenges and have identified strategies that actually work and know what to avoid. That is why JohnWallStreet leans so heavily into community and relies on well-respected thought leaders to help convey the context, analysis, and actionable intelligence that powers our content.
However, we recognize all too often those viewpoints and perspectives come from male executives. Today, we are taking steps to change that.
We’re introducing a new banner under the JohnWallStreet brand –JaneWallStreet– that will focus on the same core pillars (see: sports. media. finance.), just viewed through the lens of (mostly) female decision-makers.
The goal isn’t to segment the conversation, but to make it more complete. Women are helping to shape the business, understanding how they see the evolving landscape is essential to anticipating where the industry is headed.
So, our plan is to bring more of the females driving innovation and change into the spotlight to share fresh ideas, challenge assumptions, and amplify playbooks.
Former Teton Ridge CEO and Barstool Sports CRO Deirdre Lester is going to serve as the face and voice of JaneWallStreet. She will leverage her 20+ years of experience building businesses across sports and media to write a monthly column and host a bi-weekly podcast entitled, At The Table.
Both products will feature a rotating cast of accomplished women (think: senior executives, capital allocators, board members, founders, and owners) and focus on investment, monetization, and distribution dynamics. Male peers will be included where relevant to the discussion.
JaneWallStreet will also devote coverage to women’s sports and better understanding the female sports fan.
Existing JohnWallStreet subscribers will receive JaneWallStreet content. You do not need to do anything further.
The first JaneWallStreet column will arrive in your inbox next Tuesday. Deirdre’s debut will focus on how the Big Four leagues are likely to command more than 80% of the estimated $37bn spent on U.S. TV and streaming sports rights come 2030 and the need for challenger leagues to be thinking about controlling media distribution.
The JaneWallStreet Presents: At The Table podcast premier will be on Thursday March 26. Stephanie Alger (chief growth officer, LOVB) will be the featured guest.
Readers/listeners can expect the same standards of quality, access, and intellectual rigor from the multi-format platform as they get from JohnWallStreet.
We intend to support JaneWallStreet with integrations into JohnWallStreet’s existing programming calendar, with JaneWallStreet-specific community activations, and a dedicated Female Front Office Forum event in Q4.
I’m so excited to finally launch this initiative and couldn’t be more excited to be doing it with Deirdre. I know you’re going to value the unique point of view she brings.
