JohnWallStreet Presents: Mixed Use Real Estate Development–The Next Frontier of Sports Alpha

Sports entertainment districts are redefining how teams generate revenue, engage fans, and maximize asset value. By blending venues with retail, residential, hospitality, and entertainment, these mixed-use developments are turning stadiums into year-round destinations and reshaping club economics.

JohnWallStreet Presents: Mixed Use Real Estate Development–The Next Frontier of Sports Alpha is an opportunity for club owners and senior executives across the sports landscape to gain a better understanding of the opportunity and to ask sector experts pointed questions in a closed door, off-record environment. This exclusive event will be held at The Battery Atlanta on the morning of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game (July 15).

Jonathan Fascitelli is going to kick off the event. JohnWallStreet will sit down with the SEREGH founder, chairman, and CEO to discuss the trillion-dollar global real estate opportunity that exists around sports venues. He’ll serve up a ‘state of the industry’ address, highlight several noteworthy projects, and explain how rights owners and investors can go about generating the greatest returns on their investments.

The loaded program will also feature fireside conversations on the following topics:

  • The Battery Atlanta - Derek Schiller (president & CEO, Atlanta Braves) will join us to discuss how sports’ first great modern mixed-use development project has altered his team’s economics. He’ll share key lessons learned from turning the Braves’ ballpark into a broader entertainment district and year-round revenue engine.

  • The Bears’ Blueprint - Karen Murphy (EVP of stadium development and COO, Chicago Bears) and Stacy Sonnenberg (managing director, head of global sports finance, Goldman Sachs) will dive into the strategic roadmap behind Chicago’s ambitious $5bn Arlington Heights stadium district development project. They’ll also touch on public-private partnerships and funding, and some recent development trends.

  • Small Market, Big Opportunity - Peter B. Freund (CEO, Diamond Baseball Holdings) will explain that stadium-centric mixed-use projects aren’t just for big four clubs; they can transform the finances of tier two and three sports properties in secondary and tertiary cities too. Real estate is a key part of DBH’s investment thesis.

Attendees can expect some discussion on planning and development too.

This event is an invite-only affair (largely for JohnWallStreet IQ members, club owners, and senior team executives). If you’d like to come, please request an invitation here.

As always, the conversation will be off record so guests can speak openly and honestly. The only way to catch the insights is to be in the room.

If you would like to partner with us on this high-end event, reach out to Jacie Brandes at [email protected].

We’ll be back with regularly scheduled programming on Tuesday.
