Introducing JohnWallStreet’s Business of College Sports Podcast

JohnWallStreet is excited to announce it will be delivering intelligence in another format.

We’re rolling out a new podcast series, in collaboration with Playfly Sports, focused on the rapidly changing business of college sports. It will aptly be named JohnWallStreet’s Business of College Sports Podcast.

JohnWallStreet founder and CEO Corey Leff and Playfly Sports founder and chairman Mike Schreiber will co-host the monthly conversations. They’ll be joined by a rotating cast of collegiate sports leaders.

The idea is to talk through the timeliest industry developments—with the decision makers tasked with navigating the change. Listeners can expect candor, insights, ideas, and perspective.

The target audience for this series is a collective of athletic directors, conference commissioners, investors, and senior executives across the broader sports and media ecosystem.

The first episode of JohnWallStreet’s Business of College Sports Podcast features Big East Commissioner Val Ackerman. Ackerman discussed the conference’s efforts to expand its sponsor portfolio, its revamped broadcast distribution strategy, and how the BIG EAST is preparing for college sports’ new revenue-share reality in an extended conversation with Schreiber (Leff will be participating in future episodes).

Video versions of the podcast can be found on both JohnWallStreet and Playfly Sports’ YouTube channels. Audio versions can be found on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Up next in the series will be a sit down with Desiree Reed-Francois, director of athletics at the University of Arizona (JohnWallStreet’s alma mater). That episode will be released on Tuesday September 2.

Future episodes will feature Brett Yormark (commissioner, Big 12 Conference), Tim Pernetti (commissioner, American Conference), Mack Rhoades (VP and director of intercollegiate athletics, Baylor University), John Currie (VP and director of athletics, Wake Forest University), and Kevin Mayer (Project Rudy).

Thanks in advance for listening. Let us know what you think. We welcome the feedback.

And please mark your calendars, we’ll be hosting an exclusive event on College Sports’ New P&L in Miami on January 19, 2026 (morning of CFP Championship Game).
